PENTAX K-1 – Quick Review

by HDCameraZone
The full-frame Pentax K-1 is a very good camera for stills, but it’s very uneven in the video department. And some of the built-in technology is behind the competition. With that on the table, it’s hard recommending this DSLR to any shutterbug other than a Pentax devotee. Is there a better alternative? You bet. If you don’t own a lot of legacy Pentax glass, we’d go for the $1,499 24.3MP full-frame Sony A7 Mark II, also with 5-axis IS but featuring 60p video and Hybrid AF. It’ll save you $500 you can put toward the lens of your choosing. If […]

Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM – Quick Review

by HDCameraZone
The Sigma 85mm F1.4 offers some exceptional performance for the money. Coming in at just under $1200, it’s the least expensive 85mm F1.4 option on the market (Tamron makes another 85mm, but that’s an F1.8). This lens reaffirms the point that 3rd party lenses have come a long way in terms of overall performance over the past few years. It’s dangerously sharp when shot at F1.4 and even more so by F4. DxO and Lenstip have both rated this lens as the sharpest 85mm lens that they’ve ever tested. There’s definitely more to a lens than sharpness alone, but it […]

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-ZS100 – Quick Review

by HDCameraZone
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS100/TZ100 occupies a spot in the 1″-type enthusiast compact market that has been open since Sony created the genre several years ago. With a 25-250mm equivalent zoom lens and jacket-pocket-friendly body, the ZS100 gives users the perfect mix of focal range and size. At the time of publication, all of the other 1″-type cameras on the market either have much shorter or much longer lenses. The ZS100 features a 20MP BSI CMOS sensor which is capable of capturing 4K video. Its video capabilities are also used for the camera’s clever Post Focus and 4K Photo features. Speaking of […]
