Feiyutech is better known for their Gimbals this is the score Pro and the Scorp mini one of my favorites these are Great gimbals if you are in the market But they also make Little cameras that compete with DJI These are pocket gimbals basically and This is the third or fourth generation And it's a very unique little pocket Gimbal camera because you can detach it Completely from the remote handle and Magnetically you can mount it virtually Anywhere feiyutech sent over the camera With a few accessories and here they all Are I won't go through everything but I'll go through the main items there is A phone holder a little selfie stick That I'll talk about later and then the Camera and the remote handle in two Separate boxes as they can be sold Separately the remote control comes with A few small things the construction is Basic that is plastic it doesn't feel Particularly high-end although the mount At the top is made out of metal which is Good it's basic smooth plastic quarter 20 mount on the bottom a few buttons a Nice color LCD screen and a USBC Charging port as this remote does have a Built-in battery and now on to the cam Camera some more accessories here a mini Tripod a strap Mount and the rest is Small stuff like USB cables covers and Pouches the camera unit itself is a bit
Better made than the handle it feels Like the base is made out of metal the Little gimbal arms are also made out of Metal from what I can tell and there are Bits of plastic as well overall it feels Solid the mount on this camera is Magnetic and that is my favorite part About it you can mount it to any metal Including a car and it holds pretty well I got up to 55 miles per hour and didn't Have any issues although freeway speeds I did not test there's a USBC Port here For charging as this camera unit has a Built-in battery as well micro SD card Slot and three buttons on the top with a Tiny little screen the gimbal itself is Very Compact and the camera is pretty Well specked for being so small it Features a 1 over 2.5 inch CMOS sensor An equivalent of a 16 millimeter full Frame field of view F2 ISO up to 3200 100 electronic shutter up to one over Eight thousand and several different Modes it does up to 4K video at 60 Frames per second but gives you the Option to record at 50 48 30 25 and 24 FPS if you want to and if you want Slow-mo you can do that up to 120 frames Per second at 1080p so you might be Asking yourself why would you get this Tiny little camera when you could just Go out and buy a GoPro well there are a Couple of things that might make you Want to consider this instead the first
Is the price this is about half the Price of a new GoPro second is it's Smaller than a GoPro third you can mount This virtually anywhere because of that Magnetic base that I mentioned fourth it Has actual mechanical stabilization Instead of electronic stabilization Fifth you can control this a little bit More because if you mount this to let's Say the top of your car and you use the Remote to adjust where the camera is Pointing that is pretty cool you can't Do that with a GoPro without sticking Your hand up there and manually changing Where it's pointing and as far as the Footage coming out of this camera well Let's take a look at some sample videos All of these are straight out of this Little camera I recorded at 4K 24 frames Per second and these are all again MP4 Files straight out of this thing Ready Set Go Thank you Thank you All right so I normally would not be as Excited about a cheap small camera such As this one but when I came back home With the samples and I took a look at Them I was very surprised and pleasantly So because I think that the images Coming out of this the video coming out Of this is incredibly detailed good Colors good contrast for having such a Small sensor now it's not amazing in low
Light situations but most expensive Cameras even with expensive lenses also Struggle in low light situations so I Have to say it's pretty good there's no Focusing mechanism it seems like Everything is in focus in the shot Similar to a GoPro so if you do use Something like this to Vlog or record Your travel Adventures you'll see the Background in pretty impressive detail Although if you do get too close to your Subject it starts to look a little soft The movement in videos is nice and Smooth it's stable there's a little bit Of up and down movement because it is a Small gimbal after all but I have to say It works really well and again it looks Good it's as good if not better than any Action camera that I've used one of the Nice things that I noticed is that this Feiyu pocket 3 does a great job of Exposing video often for Action cameras Or 360 cameras if you put it in a Situation of shooting into a bright Backlight it just falls apart whereas This little camera seems to expose well For whoever is in the middle of your Frame and this is even without turning On the fancy facial tracking feature it Really is a good little camera for Shooting video and good light if you're Outside or inside with good lights You'll be pretty happy with the Resolution I think and because the
Remote connects wirelessly you can start And stop the recording change your Framing or your camera settings Everything from inside of your car while The camera just chills wherever you put It this is a massive improvement over The previous generation of this camera In which the camera was attached to the Remote via a cable now are there Negatives yes and the majority of them Have to do with this remote control Which is an optional accessory or Addition that you can purchase with this Camera it's an additional hundred Dollars So I'll start by saying again that the Construction isn't really the best in The world second thing that I noticed is That while the mount again is metal this Little mounting bracket situation is so Incredibly small that I question its Longevity especially because this USBC Port is kind of part of that support so What happens is if you accidentally Don't slide this in correctly or flush You can still plug it in and I worry That you could break this male end of The USBC connector that would not be a Good thing so it's one of the things That really I don't like about this Little controller I wish that there was A little bit more Security when you connect it to the Camera itself now once you have it
Connected and you power on this camera It boots up and it loads pretty quickly However if you power this on with these Two pieces separated then it does take About 10 to 15 seconds for the remote to Connect to the actual camera which is Not a big deal it's done automatically You don't have to put any inputs in you Don't have to set up any passwords or Anything like that which is nice and the Last negative is that there is a little Bit of lag even when you have it plugged In like this via USBC when you're Recording at times not all the time but Every once in a while I noticed that the Screen would lag behind the video a Little bit fortunately all of the video Is being recorded onto the camera itself And the SD card is part of this unit Here so it does not affect the final Product at all but just something to Note now as for the camera head I don't Really have any complaints the buttons Feel good and are it out well the mount Feels solid and the little screen is Helpful for seeing settings so this Little camera is going up on Kickstarter Today March 7th and if you get the early Bird early super early bird whatever it Is pricing this thing is 199 dollars US Which is incredibly affordable again the Controller is an extra hundred dollars So 299 for the whole set And prices will probably go up from
There so depending on how late you see This video you might be paying more for It so if you really want this thing and You want to pay the least amount of Money for it then be sure to click the Link down in the description and check It out on Kickstarter and join the Campaign don't know when these are gonna Ship but they should be pretty quick I Think this is a little camera that I am Excited about I like the creative Opportunities that it opens up because Of its small size and weight and price And that magnet Mount and beyond that It's easy to use I didn't read the Manual and I was able to figure Everything that I needed out which says A lot so if you are looking at this Thing you might be asking yourself is it Worth paying the hundred dollars for This remote control because you don't Really need it you can control this Whole camera using an app on your phone And really access all the features view What you're recording etc etc for me Personally I do like the ability of just Leaving my phone alone if I have it up On maps I don't really want to switch Over to recording or adjusting settings On this camera as it's recording I like To have my phone available for other Things or phone calls whatever so that Convenience alone is worth the price for Me also when it comes to battery life
This is kind of a big deal because this Thing charges this thing because both of Them have built-in batteries but this Battery the built-in battery on this one Is significantly larger than that one Now as far as battery life the battery On the camera itself is rated for one Hour of recording but that is where the Remote again comes in clutch the camera Battery is 280 milliamp hours while the Remote battery is almost triple the size At 750 milliamp hours so combined you Can record about two to three hours Safely a video on a single charge with Both of them there's one last thing that I'll mention there is a little selfie Extension stick and I laughed when I Extended this fully it's really short It's small and compact but it doesn't Add much if you're looking for a wider Angle maybe I'm used to the larger three Foot extension sticks from the 360 Cameras I don't know and that is pretty Much it for this review I would highly Recommend that you check this out using That link down below if you are looking For something pretty cool to add to your Gear kit if you don't have an action Camera or if you just want something Smaller that's controllable wirelessly This is an excellent option and I think Again for 199 you cannot go wrong with Buying a small camera like this one I'm Excited to see what other people create
