Viltrox Pro AF 75mm F1.2 Sony E-Mount Quick Review | Beast Mode Activated

Hi I'm Dustin Abbott I was eagerly Awaiting the viltrox pro AF 75 Millimeter F 1.2 in Sony e-mount and now That it is here it is even better than I Expected rather than just porting over The Fuji x-mount version we have new Features better autofocus and the end Result is simply fantastic this is a Stunningly good lens at a very Affordable price point of 549 US Dollars And is perhaps the best lens around this Focal length that I've ever tested The Sony version of the proaf 75 Millimeters is improved with two new Features a focus hold button that can be Programmed to different functions and The ability to de-click the aperture for Smooth aperture racks the aperture has 11 blades and keeps a beautifully Circular shape even at smaller apertures We've got an AF MF switch on the side Along with weather sealing for dust and Moisture resistance the e-mount version Has viltrox's new signature orange red Weather sealing gasket along with eight Other internal seal points there's a USBC port in the lens mount to allow for Firmware updates The manual focus ring is very wide Ribbed and metal and is nicely damped it Focuses very smoothly the only negative I can see is that the proaf 75 Millimeters is quite large and heavy at 87 millimeters in diameter or 3.42

Inches and leaving a 77 millimeter front Filter thread it's 101 millimeters in Length or roughly four inches it weighs In at 675 grams or 23.8 ounces which Makes it quite large for an aps-c Specific lens the reason for that weight Is obvious when you look inside where You will see a lot of nice Optical glass Everything is made of very nice Metals Save the lens Hood which is plastic Minimum Focus distance remains a viltrox Weakness as you can only get as close as 88 centimeters and can achieve a rather Poor 0.10 times magnification Autofocus comes via a lead screw type Stepping motor and the performance was Noticeably better on Sony I was amazed By how well I could quickly grab shots Of birds in Flight even at F 1.2 you can See that the results are perfectly Focused and another amazing instance I Activated insect tracking and took a Photo at F 1.2 of a dragonfly hidden in A cedar tree the focus was perfect Autofocus for Stills was simply Fantastic with Precision accuracy in all Situations and with all subjects Video Focus was only slightly less good Focus pulls are smooth but there is some Settling before final Focus lock is Achieved there is a fair amount of focus Breathing which further draws attention To it my hand test results were smoother And the transitions from my hand to my

Eye and vice versa was smooth and more Confident I found the real world Transitions in this shot through plants And greeneries to be somewhere in Between Precision for maintaining focus on Subjects during video recording was Excellent however Sony's 1.5 times aps-c crop the 75 Millimeter has a full frame equivalent Focal length of 115 millimeters the Sony E-mount version allows us to test how Much of the full-frame sensor it will Cover and the answer is not much more Than the aps-c crop as you can see from This comparison where I manually crop The full frame image on the left and Compared it to the aps-c crop on the Right I was very impressed when I first saw The MTF charts for this lens as they Suggested a stunningly high performance Even at F 1.2 and a Flawless performance When stopped down you can see from these Crops at F 1.2 that that image quality Looks excellent across the frame at the 26 megapixels of resolution I'm testing It on what's impressive is that Sharpness and contrast are excellent Whether close far or in between you Don't have to shoot at some optimal Distance control of chromatic Aberrations is that near apochromatic Levels leaving photos extremely sharp

And crisp the lens gets even a bit Sharper when stopped down a little look At how amazingly sharp this F 1.6 shot Of a rooster is There is no measurable Distortion and Vignette is only moderately heavy there Is less vignette on Sony than what I saw On Fuji a trend that I have seen with Other lenses as well what really Impresses me is how nice the rendering Is bokeh is surprisingly soft and creamy For so sharp a lens with backgrounds Beautifully blurred away and a very nice Three-dimensional subject rendering the Optical glass is excellent and so colors Are beautiful it even handles Flair Reasonably well with only minor ghosting Artifacts in conclusion the viltrox pro AF 75 millimeter F 1.2 is even more Fantastic on Sony it is feature Rich Focuses beautifully and has absolutely Incredible Optics I can't think of a Nicer portrait option for Sony aps-c Shooters this lens has a great Suite of Features and performance packed into an Attractive though slightly large and Heavy package and at 549 US Dollars Comes at a price point that many people Can't afford you can find more Information by watching my detailed Definitive video review or by reading my Text review that is linked in the Description you'll also find buying Links there thanks for watching have a
