Dji Osmo Pocket 3 Tutorial – Complete Beginner Guide

This is the complete beginner Guide to The DJI pocket osmo 3 including all the New features that were recently added I'm going to show you every hidden Feature in the osmo pocket 3 and make You a camera ninja including the best Settings to use for different shooting Scenarios and how to get the best Results possible let's get started so First up let me explain what makes the DJI pocket osmo 3 so interesting and why It's such a cool camera it actually has A built-in three AIS gimbal that's Really useful and as you can see as I Move the camera around The camera itself stays perfectly level And it's going to give me smooth footage If I tilt it up and down it will Actually tilt up and down with me if I Rotate left and right it will rotate Left and right with me this is going to Take all the work that goes into Operating a camera smoothly and it'll Basically do it for you always get like Very professional and smooth footage and The three AIS gimbal also has a ton of Other benefits that we'll talk about as We get deeper into this video but on top Of that you also have a button at the Front which is a joystick to control Where your gimbal's looking and there's A record button at the front that will Basically turn the camera on and off if You hold it down long enough and it will

Also initiate recording and on top of That the DJI pocket osma 3 also comes With some pretty nifty accessories one Is the hard case that you can use to Keep your camera protected at all times And it also has two magnetic holders for Different magnetic filters that you can Also put on this camera on top of that You also have a small grip extender that Allows you to put the DJI pocket osmo 3 Onto tripods and there's also a large Grip extender that allows you to put the DJI pocket osmo 3 three onto tripods as Well but it also has a built-in battery That basically doubles your battery Runtime and they also have a USBC port In the back for charging and data Transfer and the DJI pocket osmo 3 also Comes with a small tripod when you buy The Creator combo that's super useful But the best accessory is probably the DJI Mike 2 transmitter this will give You wireless audio directly into your Pocket osmo 3 and it sounds absolutely Phenomenal and it also has 32-bit float Internal recording along with noise Cancelling and it's actually the same Piece of audio equipment that I'm using To record this video right now the audio On this is absolutely phenomenal all Right let's start with the most Important stuff first there's a screen In the middle if you flip it Horizontally it turns the camera on no

Surprise there but if you flip it Vertically you can either continue to Shoot in vertical mode at 3K resolution Where horizontal is 4K resolution so Next up let's talk about some of the Settings you see on the main menu screen If you hold this button down here you Can actually zoom in or out of your Image this is a digital zoom and not an Optical zoom so the more that you zoom In the lower your resolution gets so if You're shooting in 4k and you do a two Time zoom in getting about like a little Over 1080p resolution and right up here At the top is your battery indicator and Right below it you'll see a number That's either negative or a positive and That's basically just letting you know Where your exposure is at like right now I'm attive -2.3 EV underneath here if You hit this button you can actually Flip the camera to look forward or Backwards which is really useful and up Here in in the top left you'll actually See a runtime and this is the amount of Footage that you can still record at Whatever your settings are currently Right now on 128 GB card I have 9 hours And 28 minutes which is kind of insane And there's also a joystick that lets You freely control whatever the gimbal Is looking at you can either make it Rotate side to side make it look up and Down and in some cases you can even make

It tilt left to right but I'll show you Guys how to do that later on and if you Ever want gimbal to reenter itself you Simply Triple Trap this joystick in the Middle and it would automatically go to The center point of wherever it was Looking at and that will depend on Whether it was looking forward or Backwards but again if you do a triple Click here it'll just go back to looking Forward but next up let's talk about my Favorite part of the DJI pocket osmo 3 And that is active track if you double Tap on any object doesn't have to be a Person it could also be a car a tree now What you'll notice is that I have this Little green box around my face and as I Move the camera moves with me it's Basically like having a free cameraman But there's another level to this if I Hit this button here on the right go to The middle Dynamic framing click Start And I can pick between one of six places That I want my subject to be in for this Let's pick this farle one click into This and now you'll see that it's only Going to put me on the left side of the Frame as I move around it's not going to Center me like it was before it's only Going to keep me in in the left part of The frame and this is really useful for Just having more control over your Framing next up let's take a look at Some of the major menus on the DJI

Pocket osmo 3 if you swipe right you'll Get your main shooting menu and this Will give you access to most of your Important settings right now I have Pro Mode on if I take Pro mode off it gives Me much simpler settings and within this You have exposure white balance um Glamour effect which we'll talk about Later color mode continuous focus a Bunch of other things even audio Settings but if I take promote off it'll Just shoot an auto and uh you have very Limited settings here but if I swipe From the top you'll get all of your Major like Nitty Gritty settings that You need uh to really make this thing Work the way you want and we'll talk About all of this later I'm going to go Really in depth with this if I swipe Left this basically lets you see Everything you've been shooting on your Pocket osmo 3 and you can play back Right here as well and uh this is just a Clip of me vlogging with my friends and If I swipe up this will let you change The resolution and the nitty-gritty of Whatever mode you're shooting in cuz I'm In video right now I can choose my Resolution 1080p 2.7k 4K and then the Frame rate as well and I can even choose What um ratio I can shoot in I can Choose between 1 by one or 16 by9 this Will obviously change resolution as well And this basically allows you to shoot

Vertical while you have the U screen in Vertical uh horizontal orientation And these menus will change as we go on So next up let's talk about the Different modes that you can shoot on on This camera so if you click right here At the bottom left you can now go Between photo video slow motion all Those other things so let's go through These modes one by one first up let's go Into panorama mode here the camera will Actually take different photos and Stitch them together into a larger image And this works really well you simply Swipe up from the bottom you can either Pick 180° or a 3X3 where it takes nine Photos but you also have a countdown Timer at the bottom this is how many Seconds it'll wait until it takes a Photo and once you have your mode Selected you simply hit the record Button and it will just shoot it it's Really easy just make sure your camera Is stationary otherwise you will get Some sort of weird artifacting or Blurring next up you have photo mode Here if you swipe up from the bottom you Can either shoot in 16×9 or 1 by one Which is square again you have a Countdown timer photo mode is pretty Self-explanatory next up you have video And this is where things get really Complicated and this is actually my Favorite thing on the DJI pocket osmo 3

Cuz this thing is a beast when it comes To video so you want to swipe up and you Have 1080 2.7k or 4K resolution and you Have a bunch of different frame rates Now the DJI pocket osmo 3 can shoot up To 4K 120 but it's not in this mode you Have to go to a different mode for that And you also have your aspect ratio so You can either shoot in 1 by one or 16 By9 next up let's take a look at low Light mode low light mode is very useful And it does make video and low light Looks significantly better but here's The catch you can only record in 4k up To 30 frames per second or 1080p up to 30 frames per second so I only recommend Using this if you really need the low Light and next up you also have slow Motion mode this is where things get Really fun in this mode you can record Either 1080p one 2.7k or 4K and in 4k You can go up to either 100 frames or 120 frames per second for super slow Motion like 120 frames per second you Have to be in this mode to actually get That to work and if you go over to 1080p You can actually record as fast as 240 frames per second which is equally Bonkers but sadly if you're in 2.7k you Only get 120 frames per second so I Think you either want to shoot in 1080 Or 4K next up let's talk about Time-lapse motion lapse hyperlapse Because these are three really

Interesting settings for getting that Cool time-lapse hyperlapse effect but Each of them work a little bit Differently hyperlapse is just straight Up video being shot if you click in the Top right here we'll get a bunch of Different resolutions and it's basically Going to record video at that frame rate Basically speed it up for you so it kind Of looks like a timlapse time-lapse is Actually taking photos but it will Stitch them together into a video for You but one really cool feature about Time-lapse is because it's taking actual Photos it'll actually tell you how long You need to record to get 0.5 seconds of Footage in this case it's 10 minutes for Every 0.5 seconds and next up is motion Lapse and this is definitely the coolest Feature you have a couple of options Here one you can pick your resolution so Let's go with 4K at 25 naturally you can Also choose whether you want it to move Left to right right to left or a custom Mode and in this mode you can actually Set your own Waypoint so if you click up Here in the top left actually set your Own way points let's go with three for Fun and then when we swipe down as you Can see I can pick one Waypoint here one Waypoint here and then let's pick Another Waypoint here and then when I Hit record it will basically record Between those three way points and give

Me a custom time lapse using the Specific points that I asked it for also If you want to become a camera ninja as Fast as possible whether it's the aen Pocket 3 your cell phone or any other Camera there's a free guide down in the Description on how to improve your Photos and videos within a single day Next up let's go over the major menu Settings that you have to know and There's some key settings in here that You have to change to get the best Results from this camera first up is Actually your custom settings this way You can actually have your camera with a Bunch of custom setups for like Nighttime for slow motion for like Landscapes in this way you don't need to Finesse your settings as much or mess Around with them as much as your Scenarios change you can simply go here Tap this uh have whatever settings you Already want confirm and now when you go Back in here you've got a custom setting And then when you're going through this Menu here at the bottom your custom C1 Will just be there and you can actually Add up to I believe six or 12 custom Settings it's super useful I highly Recommend using these next up go to your Third setting here and this is your Brightness I recommend keeping this at a 100% when you're Outdoors but if you're Indoors keep this to about 50% mainly to

Save battery next up you want to hit This icon right here and this takes you Into your screen rotate and capture menu First up if you turn this setting on Basically as soon as you turn your Screen on to ro or rotate it to turn the Camera on it will automatically start Recording as soon as you turn it on this Is a really useful feature if you just Want to turn it on start recording turn It off stops recording super useful Feature and underneath that you'll Actually see all the custom uh profiles That you have set up for yourself as you Can see the one that we just set up is Right there next up when you turn your Camera on it will either be in the last Setting that you wanted the camera to be In or you can have it start up straight Into video mode low light mode Hyperlapse mode and this can be useful If you know you're always going to be us Your camera a specific way like I Personally like the last setting that Way I know what I was kind of last doing With it but if you wanted you could Always have this camera turn on to video Mode if you just don't shoot a lot of Photos with it next up you want to click The setting right down here and this Will actually let you change how your Camera works with the rotating screen if You have to have it set to landscape no Matter what orientation you're in you

Will always be shooting landscape and if You set it to vert portrait vertical or Portrait basically it'll always shoot in Vertical even if it's in horizontal I Personally like the auto rotation but Some people may want it to be different Next up right here is this little person Icon and this will control how fast the Gimbal on your camera moves I like to Keep it at the fastest but if you're Finding it to be a little too jittery I Recommend going with slower medium and If you click this icon way over in the Right side you'll see a bunch of Different gimbal modes now follow is the Mode that I recommend everybody be on This is basically where the camera Follows your hand gives you the simplest Mode and like you obviously get the best Results from it tilt lock b basically Moves your camera Every Which Way But When you have the camera in your hand And you tilt it up and down the camera Will stay locked off so even if you turn Your wrist up and down basically the Camera stays in the same position fpv is Basically firsters View and in this mode If you tilt the camera left to right the Camera will actually like rotate or like Yaw with you and this is more similar to Like a first person view or kind of like How an airplane moves where it'll Actually kind of pivot left and right With you this looks super s

And lastly you have Fpv this is a mode you want to use if You have the camera attached directly to You and what this basically does is is That the camera's always facing the Touchcreen and if you have the camera Like basically on top of you it'll Always be moving forward you can control It through the Wireless app which we'll Talk about later but this is the best Mode to use if you're going to use this Camera as a ver wearable camera now next Up let's get into the most important Menus on this camera if you hit this Little gear icon in the bottom left You'll see wirelessone mic now if you Bought the DJI Creator combo and you Have the wireless mic this is an Important menu basically want to go into Your wireless mic if you hit tx1 it'll Teach you how to pair the mic it's Really simple you hold down the power Button a blue light blinks then you hit The link button very simple very Straightforward super easy to do and Underneath that if you want you can turn All the LEDs off turn the vibration off I actually like to have the vibration on So I know when I turn it on and off you Also have audio to video sync this is an Important thing to keep on BAS basically It'll jam it with time code which is Kind of like a more of a pro thing but This way you can use your DJI mic as one

Of the cameras and like a whole time Code professional production that way You can kind of mix and match the Footage for multicam if you're doing Like a proper Pro shoot there's also a Low cut filter you can turn on not the Biggest audio guy so what I understand This filter does is it basically takes Out the low end so it's not as echoey But one thing I can for sure say works Well is a 32-bit flp recording which is Actually what you're hearing right now The DJI mic transmitter is the same Transmitter I use for all my YouTube Videos and 32-bit float recording Basically means is that the audio can Never get too loud you'll always be able To save it and if it's ever too low you Can always raise the audio without Clipping it or making it sound all funky And underneath that because it actually Records 32-bit float audio internally Into the mic you also have the option to Format the memory card or the memory Unit on the DJI mic transmitter to clear It and record new stuff onto it next up You have gimbal startup direction if you Hit this this you can either make it so That the gimbal is either looking Forward backwards or wherever it was in The last setting I personally always Like to have it forward so you know when I turn the gimbal on it's facing me I Know what's up because mainly I use this

As a vlogging camera another one is auto Rotate screen power off now this is an Important one because when you first Rotate that screen if you don't Immediately hit the off button or the Continue button camera just turns off so Some of you guys might want to set it to Now where you flip it it's just off There's variable mode this is where you Can basically set the camera up to go Into variable mode this is if you're Using this as a wearable camera kind of Self-explanatory and there's also slider Control I recommend never using this but It basically lets you use the screen to Move the gimbal around instead of just Zooming personally I think it's better To use the screen to zoom in and out and Use a very nice joystick to move the Gimbal there's also selfie flip if you Notice when you shoot yourself with a Camera it's always mirroring your image So if you want can Auto Not Mirror the Image so you look the way you would look In a mirror and there's also built-in Audio backup this is a really useful Setting basically once you have this Turned on it will always record a backup Of the audio in 32-bit float directly Into the mic so if there's ever an issue Like a wireless issue with the mic or There's some sort of noise issue where You need to fix the audio up in post you Also you always have really great high

Quality audio Sav directly to the mic And if you want to get that audio off The mic you just plug in USBC put in Your computer and you're good to go next Up let's move on to the DJI mimo app Which I think is one of the best parts Of this camera once you download the DJI Mimo app from the app store on your IPhone or Android you basically want to Go into the app and as long as your Camera's on at the very top you'll see Osmo device connected on your first Startup you may have to do a little Something to connect it um it'll give You a pairing number and it's basically As easy as that you click the device and You're in and whatever the camera sees I Will now see on my phone if you ever Want to go back to the app you simply Hit this home button at the very top Right and it'll go back into the app hit The device button again you'll back You're back seeing whatever your camera Sees right here at the top middle right You'll see a little button this will Give you all of your resolution and Frame rate so you basically want to pick 1080p either in horizontal or or in one By one we'll go with 4K and bottom here You can pick your frame rate we're going To go with 60 or actually we'll go with 24 because why not and then next to that You'll you something called glamour mode This is kind of an interesting feature

But basically it allows you to add skin Smoothing once it starts working it lets You add skin smoothing brightening as You can see I've already been messing Around with it so it has like a whole Thing but basically it can kind of make Me look prettier let me look right over Here it'll make me prettier it can slim Down my face it can brighten up my skin And it will smooth out my skin as well Guys I'm so beautiful wow I'm gorgeous Kidding um this is what I actually look Like I look like melted ice cream now But it's a cool effect to have I can't Imagine most of us using it but hey if You're an Instagram girly have at it Right here at the top left you'll see These three little dots if you hit this You'll you can enable a bunch of really Cool Pro features the first one is you Can enable pro video which will give you The same settings that you would Normally have on the normal camera if You enabled Pro mode you can also turn On grid lines to help you frame up your Subject a little bit better uh next to That is um your gimbal controls you can Calibrate it U basically lets you do a Lot of what you could do from the DJI Pocket osmo 3 itself and over here in The bottom left you actually also have Your little selfie flip button right Here and at the very bottom you have the Different modes you can switch your

Camera over into this is honestly way Faster than any oh and you can also live Stream but this is honestly way faster Than anything um you could do with just Using this camera and I honestly Recommend most people use their phone to Use this camera it makes the whole Process way easier if you hit this Button right here in the bottom left I Guess you can also set your gimbal speed To fast slow default Fpv tilt lock all that good stuff if you Hit this button left over on the left Here it'll bring up everything you you Shot on your DJI pocket osmo 3 and if You hit this button in the bottom right You can now use this to control your Gimble you guys can see how awful my Office looks but the DJI mimo app is Just really useful because it lets you Do everything your camera can normally Do but just faster now the next few Settings I'm going to show you are very Very important this is going to help you If your gimbal ever stops malfunctioning Or just isn't looking right and there's One setting that's going to help you get Way better video quality so first up if You're getting G is ever not working Properly there's something called gimbal Calibration this is where you put the Gimbal on a flat level surface and it Will recalibrate the gimbal if you ever Have an issue where you're like man my

Gimbal looks kind of tilted it's just Not working right this mode is the way To go next up is joystick speed you're Going to want to use your joystick to Control all of your major settings and From here you can control how fast your Joystick actually moves things and this Next setting is going to help you get Way better video down here in the same Setting right below joystick speed You'll see video compression now you Have two options efficiency will give You very small files but smaller isn't Always better and compatibility will Give you bigger files but you'll also One be able to read them on more uh more Types of devices like your phone your Laptop won't have to worry about like oh This isn't really working right on my Device but in my opinion compatibility Also gives you a better looking image so I recommend everyone shoot on Compatibility efficiency smaller files But in my opinion it does give you worse Looking video files and then one of the Things that kind of bugs me about this Thing is that it makes way too many Beeps and boops so if you go into sound You can change how loud the S sounds are I just have mine to moot just because Like too many beeps and boobs from this Camera but that's something you can Always change now this next setting is Really helpful for someone that's just

Starting off with video and one you can Turn on your grid line to help you Better frame things but what I prefer More is this thing called reference uh 2.35 guides but you'll basically see These little faint lines at the top and Bottom here and this is basically going To help you frame your videos for the Black bar crop that you normally have With more cinematic videos or like get That anamorphic look and this can also Help you match anamorphic footage or Match other like Pro Cinema cameras that Are shooting in that aspect ratio Another setting I really recommend Leaving on auto is something known as Anti flicker sometimes if you're in Weird lighting you'll get kind of like a Banding or like an artifacting in your Video and this way you can either tell It what frequency you want it to pair up To but I leave it on auto and this way If there's any kind of flickering with Fluorescent lights or overhead or like House bulbs it basically just goes away There's also time code which is if you Want to use this camera with other Pro Cameras and you want to do a multicam Thing this will basically let you Jam Time code either use time of day or you Can just manually jam it with your other Cameras right then and there one feature That I do like is called naming Management this way if you're shooting

Multiple days you can simply go into Naming management make a new folder make A new file name and label the files that Are coming at your camera like today I Was in this city this other shoot that I Did was in this other city so you taking A multi-day holiday vacation trip or Whatever you can have your files a Little bit more organized this way and If you ever want to start fresh with Your camera or maybe there's a setting On there that's not doing exactly what You want it to do you have two options Here one you can format your card so it Just formats everything on your card you Can start new especially once it's full And then there's factory reset we'll Basically set it back to factory Settings so you can get basically a new Camera and you can figure out the Settings and maybe a setting that wasn't Working you can get rid of that setting And that's basically everything you need To know about the DJI pocket osmo 3 and How to get the best out of this camera If I left anything out or if you guys Have questions hit me up in the comments Down below and I'll be sure to answer Every single one of these questions but More importantly if you want to level up With your camera and you want to start Getting better photos and videos whether You're shooting on the DJI pocket osmo 3 Or any other camera out there there's a

Free training in the description down Below that will teach you how to get Better photos and videos within a single Day maybe even an hour depending on how Fast you watch this and there's also a Camera boost course which is an in-depth Guide of everything that I know about Making better photos and videos how to Be more creative find your own style and There's even a bonus editing module so If you want to really level up your game And really start creating the kind of Work you've always wanted to make you Can also check out that course and I'll See you guys in the next video peace but
