[Music] Hey TCS TV viewers it's Dave and Evelyn From the camera store and we're very Excited we're coming to you from Snowbird Utah and we're going to be Talking about the Sony 16 to 35 Millimeter F 2.8 G Master 2 lens [Music] Dave and I are here in Snowbird Utah for The condo Sony trip and this is an Exciting event where we have hundreds of Creators and they're all here in one Place to learn from each other Be Inspired collaborate and check out Sony's latest launch gear and I think You nailed it right there by saying Inspired I mean we were surrounded by 200 plus people that are all involved With YouTube filmmaking audio side of Things from all parts of the world it Seems and it's great because it is truly Inspiring to see what other people are Doing and really sort of getting to know Them and talk with them now this is a 16 To 35 millimeter G Master lens it's F 2.8 and this is a refinement on their Original model and we've been able to Photograph nightscapes we did some time Lapsing we've done architecture we've Done portraits we've done all kinds of Really cool stuff to flex this lens and See what it's all about so 1635 lens is A very versatile lens it's a wider wider Angle lens starts at 16 which is
Incredibly wide take a look at a couple Of these shots this amazing building Here at the lodge it is fantastic Architecture and it looks amazing when You can make it look so big in space Then you can zoom in through 24 28 and Then 35 which is my favorite focal Length now what I find about 35 it's That perfect focal length for capturing Life so I use this lens a bit more for Environmental portraits I want to show People in their workplace it's not an Intimate lens where I can get really Close to a subject this lens does have a Very close focusing distance and you can See some of the shots here as we brought Some things really close in you can Really sort of distort things a little Bit in the beautiful models they look Kind of funky kind of cool when you play Around with it but it's more of a Creative choice if you're shooting Portraits now this lens is certainly Lightweight coming in at 547 grams it's Incredibly lightweight for a lens of This design you've also got an 82 Millimeter filter thread 11 bladed Aperture we dig deep inside the lens and We go to 15 different lenses in 12 Different groups not going to bore you With all the details there but there is A lot of special elements within this Lens producing some amazing quality now They have done a few different design
Changes to this lens not only making it Significantly lighter than its Predecessor they have added an iris lock To this lens which is really nice Because I set it to add have to Accidentally worry about knocking it out Of place that's a really nice feature to Have I'm glad they improved that there's An autofocus manual focus switch and Some custom buttons here overall the fit And finish of this lens is fantastic Feels like a high quality lens feels Like a g Master lens should feel very Lightweight but very well built as Dave Mentioned this lens is a lot smaller and Lighter than the predecessor in fact it Is 20 lighter than the previous 16 to 35 Millimeter G Master lens and that's Impressive especially because they put All these incredible Optics in it and Then from the performance side of things They also included XD linear Motors now The great thing with that is it can Actually focus a lot faster and so this Lens is fantastic it keeps up with Sony's latest autofocus system and with That in mind I will mention that we've Been shooting primarily on the Sony Alpha a7cr which is Sony's latest high Resolution camera with a backside Illuminated full frame sensor and it's Been a great camera to test this lens With and I absolutely love that we have This additional grip extension that you
Can get for the new cameras this one Comes in the box so the a7cr you can Check out our review by clicking up the Card up there but yeah it's a nice Combination I'm really enjoying it we Couldn't be at condo without talking About the video aspects of this lens now One of the big things they've done is They've corrected Focus breathing so This lens has very minimal Focus Breathing which is again another Impressive feat for a lens of this focal Range they've also added the little Clicky aperture ring switch and so you Can choose between having the clickable Aperture if you're doing photography or If you're doing video you can do those Smooth transitions with the iris so That's fantastic I think this is an Excellent option for video it's a Beautiful wide angle perspective you Have that Zoom ability it's nice smooth Zoom and I think this would be an Enjoyable lens for both photographers And video Part of candle was great when you know The Creator so just outside of frame Here come on in join us here join us man I'm glad to see you yeah nice to see you It's fantastic so talk about your Channel here really quickly it's Three Blind Men and an elephant you did that Well I did that well yes fantastic Channel we've seen him a couple other
Press trips great to have he's been Playing with his lens as well what are Your thoughts and Impressions on this Lens well I would say it's the smallest Lightest and sharpest 16 to 35 I've I've Ever shot with and people like you and Me we've shot with a lot of them if You're an event photographer wedding Photographer journalist Sports and you Need the focal range it's the best there Is Hugh always a pleasure vice versa Dave can't wait to see you again and We'll see you guys tonight for dinner For sure sounds good let's pig out Bye guys all right Dave I have to Have to despite being in this amazing Space I really do believe that this lens Is fantastic I mean it's another G Master lens we know Sony's been putting Out some great glass it is you know a Pricey lens it's just over three Thousand dollars Canadian but you are Getting what you pay for it's gonna be Amazing image quality and sharpness is Something you really have to see because It is prime level sharpness for most the Lens this kind of completes the Professional kit that I think a lot of People aspire to and so I'm very happy That Sony has updated this lens I think It was much needed having the new Autofocus performance something that is Smaller lighter that kind of just fits Within Sony's ethos of what they're
