Growatt Infinity 1500 Portable Power Station and UPS Review

[Music] Foreign 1500 in some cases this is a pretty Similar type review and that this is a Lithium-Ion powered station and but it's Also a UPS which does make this a little Bit more interesting we'll talk about That in just a moment we have in terms Of basic specs we have 1512 watt hour capacity in the battery We have a output of 2000 Watts with a Peak of 4 000 Watts now that Peak Capacity does open up a little bit more Headroom to involve more things and what I've been able to use in the past with a Unit like this it also makes it more Interesting particularly for if you're Looking for a little bit less in terms Of portability as you can see this is Pretty big and fairly heavy but a whole Lot more interesting if you're looking For something to either be a alternative Power source if you're you know camping Or something like that but I think it's Really interesting as a backup type System and so so in the case of an Emergency or various other scenarios as We'll discuss a little bit here today it Gives you a lot more options for that so As far as that extended power output one Thing that I I have a few different Things that I test every time that I Test one of these power stations and so Um in times past with the units like you

Know from jackery for example the Explorer 1000 or the blue Eddie unit Similarly that I've reviewed they were Able to power up my kind of mini travel Kettle but not my full-size electric tea Kettle and as you can see here it does Pull a lot of wattage but this unit had Zero problems with powering it up and Running it all throughout the cycle Until we got to boil and I could make my Tea and so it is the first of these Units that I've personally tested now Those companies that I've mentioned Already they do have larger capacity Units that could do what this one did However this unit is pretty Competitively priced which we'll get to In just a moment and so the fact that it Was able to do that really increased Kind of the um the the opportunities the Loads that I could put to it I also was Able to in in the midst of a an actual Power outage my wife and I came home it Was time for our our main meal of the Day we discovered as we came in the door That the power was out and so we were Trying to figure out how we were going To cook the meal that day and I remember That I was testing this unit and I went And pulled it out and my wife got out Her electric uh Skillet and um and Hooked it up to this and was able to Cook no problem now you know as I saw That you know you wouldn't be able to

Cook for a long period of time with that Serious a draw that electric skill it Did draw over 1500 watts on a regular Basis but the amazing thing was is that The next day it happened to be a sunny Day I could go out and I could actually Recharge this via solar and so did the Idea that we were able to have that meal During a power outage and then the power That I was using I was able to replenish From the Sun on yeah pretty cool also Charging the smaller things the more Typical things were pretty effortless You know when it comes to charge Charging for example my cameras it just Hardly makes a dent and a battery this Size and I could do it many times over You can run a 60 watt CPAP for over 22 Hours those of you that are looking for A backup for something like a CPAP and a Power outage gives you a lot of Headroom For doing that in terms of just charging Your phone something similar to that you Can charge it over a hundred times and So that is obviously going to be Something that's really going to serve That purpose without any kind of effort Now but what starts to make this unit Interesting compared to ones that I have Previously reviewed is that first of all The power supply is built right into This now that becomes interesting for a Couple of reasons and so there is no External power brick there's just a good

Heavy cord that goes right into it and So I found that I was able to suck Electrons into this at a much higher Rate than anything that I have seen Previously I could you know for example When I was reviewed the Explorer 1000 From jackery I think that I was Typically drawing somewhere around maybe 250 watts and and charging it and so we Were using that as a backup in this Building just as an emergency light Backup But one thing I did find is on a day I Actually needed to test the system and Had someone coming in to test it there Are others that have done some previous Testing in the day and as a byproduct of The battery had been you know fairly Depleted and it took a long time to get That battery back and I actually had to Reschedule an appointment because the State of charge was not going to Regenerate fast enough with this Particular unit you can actually suck Electrons up to 1500 watts coming in and I've never seen any kind of flow like That which means that even with this Large capacity battery you can charge it In as little as two hours through that Method and so that internalized power Inverter is a very nice touch and as We're going to see it's very important For the UPS function now you can also Charge it via solar in as little as two

And a half hours but you're going to Need some serious solar capacity you can Use up to 800 watts of solar panels Coming into this unfortunately I didn't Have anything near that the largest Panel that I've got at the moment is a 200 watt panel and and so I was reminded Of doing this review in Canada in the Winter with you know shorter daylight Hours intermittent sunlight all of those Factors the fact that the the Sun stays Low in the sky and is obstructed by more Things like trees I was reminded of why I would not want to rely solely on solar Power as a source of power for my energy Needs because it was rather frustrating To get any kind of serious charge into This now on a good day and with good Panels obviously you could charge this Pretty quickly but I found that it Really charged quite slowly with 200 Watt panels and of course the kind of Intermittent Sun that I'm accustomed to Getting at this time of year So let's before we talk about the UPS Function let's talk about the basic Overall design I like The Logical flow Here a little bit of a different design With this you know kind of inverted Section going to the top but it does Have a practical function there are fans On either side so it allows a pass view Through of airflow and then this top uh Level not only gives you the handles but

You have a nice large section that Serves as your Wireless charge Point per Port and so you can set you know a a Phone or some other kind of wirelessly Charged device on top of here then you Have a nice logical flow in terms of Your inputs being on one side underneath This flap as noted we just have that one Do you just plug it right in and the Inverter power brick is internal you can Also obviously plug in from this port When it comes to your either solar or Also your DC coming out of a vehicle Charge we'll plug into that Port there And then there is a overload protection Reset that is mounted there at the front Of the unit we have the LCD screen which Has a lot of information I will know for Someone like me fortunately I still have No problem reading small things but There are a lot of things on this Display it can display a lot of Information which is great but it's not A particularly large display and so Sometimes like for example the UPS Function as you can see it's a it's very Small script on there and so my Electrician buddy whom I'll introduce in Just a moment he had a much harder time Seeing some of those things on screen But we've got three different power Buttons here one being the main power And then buttons for both the DC power And the AC power there is a Wi-Fi

Control here this is a Wi-Fi Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled device and then also We've got a variety of ports here we've Got a couple of USBC which of course Have power delivery standard we have Some fast port for charging uh you know USB 3.0 type fast ports and then we have Some USB a ports here there On the far side we have both the AC out Outputs here which you can obviously you Can get up to 2000 continuous Watts Drawing off of this and Peak power 4000 Watts as mentioned previously there's Four of them there and then there is Also down here they're underneath this Port there is a port that will allow you To plug into something like a cigarette Lighter type accessory there on the back Uh nothing on that but I did like the Logical flow where everything kind of Has its own sections it actually is a Quite a clean design for what I am using It for is my primary use for this is Actually as a UPS backup for emergency Lights in our building now also Interesting about this as I noted is Wi-Fi enabled and so it does come with a Smart app control which you allow you to Remotely monitor the unit itself and so Even right here I can connect into it Via Wi-Fi and I could see if there's Anything monitoring it and so for Example if I plug something into the Front I could remotely even offside

Might see what was plugged in and what Kind of draw was there how much time was Left also into the AC panel anything That was plugged in there and it's very Interesting when it comes to the DC Outputs and it actually breaks them down Via each particular Port here and so you Can see how much of a charge is coming Out of there so just an extra degree of Functionality that is unique gives you Some wireless control over that so Kind of the main thing that sets this Unit apart is the fact that it is fully Integrated and set up to be a UPS or an Uninterrupted power supply that makes it Very useful for a number of different Applications could be something as Simple as just your you know computer Type situation in this case we're using It for emergency lights in this building So I'm going to introduce my buddy we're Going to take a look at that together Okay I'm here with my friend Garth he's An electrician and he's going to give us A quick explanation of how our current We've been using a battery backup system Here in our building and so he's going To quickly demonstrate how that Typically works and then how that with a Unit that is a designated UPS unit like The Infiniti 1500 how you can eliminate A few of these steps and make it a Little less technical for those of us Who aren't electricians take it away

Garth thank you so today the the uh Robot 1500 it uh is hooked in as power Going into it just a nice heavy cord it Comes with and it's fed from a circuit That you would have in your house 15 amp Circuit output you have four AC outputs So what happens here is uh as soon as we Lose power It flips over and supplies The rest of The building with the power what we had Earlier is we didn't have a unit with it With the automatic changeover so what we Have to do is uh we did that with a Relay we had to use relay technology to Do the changeover previously because it Wasn't a UPS that had an automatic Changeover and inside of it so the other One we just basically have two sources Of power the normal Hydro coming in and And the UPS power uh constantly coming In whenever it loses power it it flips This relay with these two sources of Power going to it power turns off relay Switches To the UPS system input and then that's What you have on the output these top Wires here and so the practical Application is in your house you Wouldn't need any complex relays or Anything like that all you would need is To plug this into a good circuit near Your panel and anything that you wanted To plug in so I'm here right now Underneath one of the emergency lights

That are throughout our building the way That we have this set up is that we have Panels like this that are on a separate Emergency circuit all throughout the Building so in the case of emergency we Go to our battery backup system so this Is just showing you how quickly we Cycled right there from the power going Off to going to the battery backup and So it's 20 milliseconds or less there's Just that momentary flick before the Battery power comes on and we have power And under our current load we're drawing Right under 900 watts in our Configuration throughout our building And so at that rate we can get about 1.7 Hours according to the unit of runtime Before we actually lose power plenty of Time to get anybody out of the building Or to finish up doing what needs to be Done so as you can see obviously the Functionality of running it as a UPS is Really intriguing and so even in a quite Large building this is about an 8 300 Square foot building but our emergency Lights are out it we have plenty of Power to run those lights for an Extended period of time to help to make Our building safe and so very very Useful in that regard so in conclusion Let's talk about whether or not this is A unit that should be intriguing for you Obviously if you're looking for Something portable this is not

Necessarily what you're looking for it Weighs about 36 pounds and so that is Not particularly light it means it's Going to come in at somewhere around Between 16 and 17 kilos pretty heavy for For just kind of you know carrying Around and so you're going to want if You're going to carry it you're going to Want to not carry often to get it to a Place set it down set it up and use it But if you're looking for something that Has more versatility in what it can Power and how quickly it can recharge Itself or to use as a UPS this is a very Very intriguing device and even during The time when I've been doing the review The price point dropped from about 1500 Us down to about right under 1300 U.S 1279 US Dollars and I think at that Price point this offers a real genuine Value because if you are thinking about Using it as a UPS particularly in the Way that we've kind of demonstrated for A home backup maybe in an emergency to Run your furnace us a gas-powered Furnace you know but to provide the Electrical component or various things Like that this is going to give you a Lot of extra versatility without the Additional costs involved in wiring or Even involving an electrician you can Literally just you know plug in and plug Out if you have a very you know Sim Simple setup done in advance so as a

Byproduct of that I do think that it Offers some genuine value even though That's not inexpensive there is a lot of Value and functionality that is offered Here and so I find the shoe unit really Really intriguing because of the Versatility that it offers that is above And beyond any of these that I've tested Before even if it's not for every kind Of application but if you're looking for Something that you want to just kind of Set in place and isn't going to break The bank in terms of overall cost I do Think that this grow watt Infiniti 1500 Is a very intriguing option I'm Dustin Abbott and if you look in the Description down below you kind of can Find links where you can either get more Information or make a purchase of it Also linkage to follow myself or Craig On social media to become a patron or Get Channel merchandise if you haven't Already please like And subscribe thanks For watching have a great day and let The light in [Music]
